I was combing through the delights at Pretty Funny; a local antique and vintage treasure trove in Tarrytown, NY. As I was running my fingers around the hems of satin cocktail dresses, and woolen coats I overheard a startling conversation between a father and his maybe 7 year old son.  "What's this?" he asked, pointing to a stately, old typewriter.  "That's a typewriter" his father replied. "That's what people used to write with before there were computers."  "Oh" his son replied in a kind of stupor of curiousity. "...Weird."

WHAT?!  There's a generation of little people running around the world who will look at bound books, rotary phones, and typewriters as oddities.  That was my first thought - and then my second thought was that I'm old.  But even for me, these items that forty years ago served a hugely practical use, now had a charming, romanticism; "this item would look great next to my lemon centerpiece and vase of peonies" kind-of-feel.  As someone who often identifies more with the analog rather than the digital, I couldn't help but feel sad that these beautiful instruments were, in a way, quickly becoming artifacts.

You can imagine how tickled I was when I discovered this...

That's right lades and gentleman,  a USB Typewriter.  It functions with macbooks, pc's, and ipads alike.  All for the retro-keyboard say I!  ( "I!")
