Babies have been born, countries have fought for and won their shot at democracy, Republicans have proposed major cuts in funds to the arts, and artists have made life-defining work in the span of my two week absence from this little writing nook of mine! I've missed you.
Can I be honest? I have sort of lost my mo and I'm hoping it'll come out of hiding soon. Lately, I've been spinning my wheels in work, reading a great deal, journaling a great deal and contemplating those things in life that throw one into a self-analytical pretzel. So, in short, the dregs of winter are well underway!
This long separation from the city has sort of imposed a kind of period of incubation, healing, and focus that hasn't been altogether easy, albeit entirely necessary. Sometimes you don't realize how starved you are for your own attention, when you're busy distributing it elsewhere. I'm grateful for all of it, including the glass of flat champagne I had last night while watching a four-part Masterpiece Theater...I've been a nerd since 1996. I've come to terms with the fact that it is a permanent fixture of my personality.
Happy love day - I hope it's one that inspires authenticity and care toward others and yourself, the whole year round xoxo
