Can't wait to curl up and read these. I have a growing stacking of books and magazines that are calling my name. Pigeons and Peacocks, a fashion and culture mag put out by the students of the London College of Fashion, is filled with innovative presentations, gorgeous editorial shots, and that heavy card stock paper that makes thumbing through its pages as much a tactile joy as it is a visual one. It also more than indulges my anglophilia - this current issue walks you through East London via its cultural icons, visual artists and locals.
My other delight is A Little History of the World, because who doesn't want to learn about their human lineage? Apparently in 1935 with a doctorate in art history and no prospect of a job, twenty-six year old E.H. Gombrich was invited to attempt a history of the world for young readers. I am currently finishing up my 'Gombrich' year (I'll be turning 27 'gasp' this week) and thought this might be a fun way to dream about what lasting gifts I can bestow upon the world as I move into 'gasp' my later twenties.
