Hamburg, Germany

I haven't written in a little while because I've been here ----------->

I was greeted by Haribo gummy bears on my pillow and when I turned on the television set the screen read: "Hello Mrs. Choy-Kee. Enjoy your visit at The Hotel Maritim".

Mrs.!

The beginning of a beautiful week had just commenced.

Some interesting things to note:

Hamburg is currently covered in about 3 inches of ice. They have stopped putting salt on the sidewalks to prevent harming the environment and indigenous wildlife. It's very slippery...which is fun, but mostly scary.

The larger lake of the two shown in the picture above, was frozen through enough, that over the course of two weeks 70,000 people could walk across it. It's surrounded by beautiful restaurant boats and cafes. I was scared to walk across it...and I regret it just a little...it was gorgeous.

The city can't build higher than the steeples of the city's oldest churches. I went into St. Petri's Church on a little afternoon jaunt. It was cavernous and simple and quiet.

<------ This is a picture of The Thalia Theater. This was a stunning venue and the play was extremely well received. We had subtitles!

After our second show, we were invited to a party on the top floor of this pretty place where I wined, dined and danced.

I spun around in circles with a new friend, "Diplomat's Son" was playing, and I stumbled home by 3 a.m. .... which I've learned with this theater company is an early night.
